Details
(Whiteboard: [2012 Fall Equinox])
Tested on today's Linux & OS/2 trunks.
To reproduce:
1-Open browser
2-Open CZ
3-Join channels on moznet and/or freenode
4-Open history
Actual results:
1-history doesn't show all channels and servers joined
Expected results:
1-History shows all servers and channels joined
This has been the case for as long as I can remember. In today's observation, with Linux 2005111801, none of two servers and 14 channels showed up anywhere in history. With OS/2 2005111805 I auto-joined in order @#ij @#warpzilla #seamonkey #developers #mozilla #mozillazine @#linux #mztech #chatzilla @#evangelism #bmo #qa @#css, and then manually #testday. Earlier today before the new build restart I also had joined #firefox. In history now are bs, chatzilla, evangelism, ij, mozilla, mozillazine, warpzilla, for a total of 7 entries for 15 channels joined.

Does this still occur now that we have a new History backend (Places) ?

In Linux SM 2007092302, tools -> search -> history -> location contains for irc: produces an empty results window, even though CZ is currently open to ~15 tabs.

OK, I tested our behaviour on CZ trunk and Firefox 2.0. We correctly call the history API on all the joins of those channels, and for the network. I'm afraid that this is not our issue. If this is still reproducible on a newer SeaMonkey version that uses places, you could punt this bug to Toolkit : Places, or whatever the relevant component is.

My 2008021601 SM trunk on Linux has 15 CZ tabs open and 0 irc://* entries in history.

(I would have filed this under a history component if there were one. Apparently SM by default isn't using places yet, though they're trying to change that)
In both current Firefox and SeaMonkey nightlies irc:// links doesn't get to History, so moving to Places section
Severity: normal → enhancement
Component: Bookmarks & History → Places
Product: SeaMonkey → Toolkit

Phoenix, this has worked at least partially in the past, so it's not something new that is wanted, but something old that became broken, possibly from the start , a bug. -> normal
Severity: enhancement → normal
Sorry, I changed Severity before checking that feature is gone from Firefox and forget to turn it back :)

Places doesn't filter irc addresses, so, unless these come through the docshell, you must add them manually. I think this may rather be a frontend bug
